Mexico City, March 13, 2020. After monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak for several weeks and weighing up the situation in Mexico, the SPM Organizing Committee today announced that Solar Power Mexico 2020 will be postponed until November 18-20, due to the spread of COVID-19 in Mexico and its classification as a pandemic by the World Health Organization.
The wellbeing of our visitors, exhibitors, employees, suppliers and guests is our number one priority. The COVID-19 situation in Mexico is currently categorized as phase 1 at this moment. However, the Mexican Ministry of Health anticipates that preventive measures will be stepped up to phase 2 within the next two weeks. With that in mind, postponing the event is the best course of action to ensure the safety of our community.
Solar Power México will now take place in November 2020. The month was selected and agreed upon by our Advisory Council and strategic allies, and we believe it to be the best option under the circumstances.
A Hannover Fairs Mexico executive will contact you shortly to discuss details and provide support on a case-by-case basis. Please know we are here to help in any way we can. In the meantime, those of you who wish to join our “We Will be There!” campaign can click here to download materials and express their interest in participating via social media, our website and e-mail signatures.
We value the support of all those involved in the event, from our partners and visitors to our suppliers, local authorities, the Citibanamex exhibition center and, above all, our exhibitors in this important industry. Thank you for your understanding and support. This is a global challenge, but our community is strong. We look forward to seeing you at the second edition of Solar Power Mexico in November as we continue to “light” the way.
